The infant feeding bottle alliance standard puts forward new requirements for rubber and plastic mat

On April 2, China’s first corporate alliance standard "Safety Requirements for Infant Feeding Bottles" was released and implemented. The standard is jointly compiled by the China Toys and Baby Products Association and key domestic and foreign bottle companies, including Pigeon, Philips Avent, NUK, Goodbaby, etc., and authoritative testing organizations.

The alliance standard includes 7 items including safety, labeling, mechanical physical and chemical performance testing methods and packaging. There are strict requirements for the rubber and plastic raw materials used to make baby bottles: it should meet the "Food Rubber (15060, 50.00, 0.33%) Product Hygienic Standards", "Rubber Nipple Hygienic Standards", "Food Packaging Polyethylene Molded Products Hygienic Standards" "A total of 12 items. Among them, the limit of migration of lead is 25mg/kg, the limit of migration of chromium is 10mg/kg, and the limit of migration of mercury is 10mg/kg. The total content of the six phthalate esters shall not exceed 0.1% (m/m), including six types including dibutyl phthalate, butyl benzyl phthalate and di-n-octyl phthalate . When the thermoplastic parts of the baby bottle are tested accordingly, the release of bisphenol A shall not exceed 0.03μg/mL.

According to Liang Mei, executive vice president of the China Toys and Baby Products Association, the alliance standard adopts the existing national hygiene standards and national standards for related products and materials, and product safety indicators mainly refer to European and American standards. The new standard is not mandatory, but once the standard is marked for use, it must meet the standard index requirements, and the government or enterprise will conduct random inspections accordingly. At present, the industry association is communicating with the National Standards Committee and other departments to promote the upgrade of the alliance standards to higher-level standards.

According to incomplete statistics, there are at least 200 milk bottle and nipple companies in China, but at present, there are no national standards for milk bottle products, and no industry or local standards.
